Clemson, SC - The Pi Alpha Chapter and the Pi Alpha National Alumni Coalition (PANAC) proudly joined Clemson’s CBAC Blackout Experience during Homecoming Weekend, held from October 30 to November 2, 2025. This multi-day celebration brought together more than 40 brothers, their families, and friends to unite in fellowship, tradition, service, and school pride.
The activities centered around the CBAC Blackout Experience—a signature series of events highlighted by the CBAC Tailgate held on game day. With an estimated 800 attendees, the tailgate became a vibrant scene of brotherhood and Tiger spirit. PANAC hosted dedicated morning and afternoon photo sessions, capturing memories among alumni, undergraduates, and their families.
Meanwhile, the CBAC team provided a fully outfitted tailgate experience featuring a live DJ, big-screen TV station, well-equipped tent spaces, and additional amenities to keep energy high throughout the day.
Culinary excellence was on full display thanks to DOC ROC Henderson Catering, owned and operated by Brother Eddie Henderson, Jr. The menu featured a popular lineup of tailgate classics that fueled guests throughout the festivities. Adding to the excitement, Clemson University President Jim Clements made a special appearance at the tailgate that morning, engaging in conversation with several Pi Alpha brothers and acknowledging the chapter’s continued leadership and community involvement.
In addition to the tailgate, Pi Alpha alumni and undergraduates participated in several other Blackout Weekend traditions—including the ever-popular Fall Fest Stepoff. Pi Alpha brought home 3rd place overall but placed first among the fraternities. Brother Lawton Brown served as a judge for the competition, further demonstrating the chapter’s leadership presence on campus.
Friday morning featured the inaugural CBAC Golf Classic, where 46 golfers teed off in a spirited display of sportsmanship. Brother Bobby Clark represented Pi Alpha on the course, and Travis Rice was a part of Steering committee for the event.
Special thanks go to Brothers Lawton Brown (Spring 1993), Tony Washington (Fall 1998), Travis Rice (Fall 1998), Greg Franklin (Fall 2009), Bobby Clark (Spring 1985), and Gavin Vazquez (Fall 2020) for their tremendous efforts in coordinating the logistics, setup, and support for this year’s tailgate. Their dedication ensured a seamless event and memorable experience for all.
With two major tailgates now sponsored this year—including the LSU Game and Clemson’s Homecoming—PANAC continues to strengthen its role in connecting alumni, supporting chapter initiatives, and celebrating the legacy of Pi Alpha and Alpha Phi Alpha at Clemson University.
