Ms. Destiney Young Selected 2013-14 Scholarship Winner

Clemson, South Carolina - Clemson University and PANAC are pleased to announce the second annual winner of the Alpha Phi Alpha Scholarship Endowment winner as Ms. Destiney Young, a Special Education Major from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina who graduates this May 2014. Destiney has plans to pursue a Master Degree starting in Fall 2014 in Special Education. The Scholarship was awarded earlier this semester.

Ms. Young selected Clemson University, because of its reputation with Special Education, and also enjoys her classes in behavior management. Currently, Destiney serves as the Secretary of the Clemson University Chapter of the International Reading Association and as a member Clemson's Council for Exceptional Children. She is also involved in the Clemson's FCA Ministry. "Thank you [PANAC] for your generous spirit and helping support me at Clemson." said Destiney about her scholarship award.

This scholarship, formerly known as "ALPHA PHI ALPHA– PI ALPHA CHAPTER –ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT", "APAPACASE", started awarding winners last year [2012] and is dedicated to Bro. Clarence Addison, who served as the charter advisor to Pi Alpha Chapter in 1980 until 1985. PANAC started its effort to raise fund for the endowment in his honor in 2003 and do due as raised more than $55,000 toward the scholarship with a goal to reach $60,000 by the end of the year. It is the first NPHC Alumni group to start a scholarship at Clemson University.
