Washington, District of Columbia - Our very own, F. Carlos Hill, (BS in Civil Engineering '86) has been promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in U.S. Air Force. Brother Hill's was approved by the Secretary of Air Force and President of the United States and was recently confirmed by the U.S. Senate. This year's promotion list consists of 18 Brigadier General (1-star) and 10 Major General (2-star) nominees. "It still is difficult to believe that I have been selected to be a senior leader in the Air Force," said Brother Hill, who has 28 years of service in the Air Force.

Upon graduation, Carlos was commissioned into the United States Air Force and assigned as an aircraft maintenance officer. He served on active duty in Illinois and California working on the B-52, B-1 and KC-135 aircraft. While in Texas, he returned to graduate school and earned a MS in Management and Human Relations from Abilene Christian University. His last active duty assignment was teaching Air Force ROTC at Rutgers and Princeton Universities in New Jersey.

Upon separating from active duty, Carlos went to work as a Human Resource Director at General Electric, and worked in Massachusetts, Alabama, Florida and Pennsylvania. There, he concentrated on mergers and acquisitions and assimilating newly acquired companies into the GE culture. He concurrently served in the Air Force Reserve as a maintenance office on the C-5 aircraft in Massachusetts.

After September 11, 2001, Carlos was mobilized to provide continuous military support for two years and as a consequence, volunteered to return to active duty full-time. He was selected for the Air Force Legislative Fellowship program sponsored by the Georgetown Government Affairs Institute. He worked on Capitol Hill for 1 year in the Office of Sen James M. Inhofe, a senior member of the Armed Services Committee. Carlos was later assigned as an Air Force Senate Liaison Officer, and in the Pentagon as the Reserve Adviser to Secretary of the Air Force's Office of Legislative Liaison.

With this promotion, Colonel Hill will remain in his current position as Mobilization Assistant to the Secretary of the Air Force Legislative Liaison for the immediate future. In this role, he advise the Secretary and Chief of Staff of Air Force on varied concerns of Congressional Members and staffers as he advocates for the President's Budget for the Air Force for each fiscal year.

Carlos will be pinned to his new rank on Friday, 22 May 2015 at the Pentagon in an official promotion ceremony. All PANAC is very proud of Carlos' great achievement.
