Brothers,

We trust all is well with you and those dear to you. We write on this Special ALPHA Day in anticipation of another special day for Pi Alpha that will soon be upon us!

“College days swiftly pass” has such meaning as we now find ourselves close to Pi Alpha’s 30th Anniversary Reunion that will be held February 22-24, 2013. At the end of January 2013, the university also commemorates the 50th anniversary of Harvey Gantt becoming a Clemson student on January 28, 1963.

As one of PANAC’s many accomplishments over these 30 years, we have raised over $45,000 in under 7 years for the Alpha Phi Alpha–Pi Alpha Chapter-Alumni Scholarship Endowment, which has been established for the benefit of African-American undergraduates attending Clemson University. We are so pleased that the very first scholarship has been awarded during this academic year. All scholarships awarded from this endowment will continue to be given in honor and memory of Professor Clarence L.B. Addison, the “father” of our chapter.

Clemson University Foundation policies and procedures continue to govern the endowment. For now the fund value only allows the scholarship to be awarded annually in $1,000 increments.

To help commemorate these two very important dates in Clemson history, we want to grow the corpus of this scholarship fund to $60,000 by the reunion but can only do it with your help. As the calendar year closes, we ask that you consider a donation before year end. All contributions are classified as a gift to Clemson University and thus are fully tax deductible. If your company offers matching gifts it increases your giving power and gets credited to you individually with the university. We ask that you take advantage of this valuable benefit that you work hard for by contacting your company before making your gift to make sure you complete the necessary forms.

Brothers, PANAC needs your help! Any contribution you are led to donate can be made payable to the Clemson Fund and earmarked for the Alpha Phi Alpha Scholarship. As a convenience, we have enclosed a contribution form or you may go online to www.clemson.edu/alumni/giving/. If you give online, please be sure to designate the Alpha Phi Alpha–Pi Alpha Chapter-Alumni Scholarship Endowment so that your gift will be properly allocated to our scholarship endowment.

Please visit PANAC’s website @ www.cualphas.org for additional information. Thanking you in advance for your consideration we are,

Fraternally,

Jerry Middleton B. Aubrey Harrell
